Obituary of Billie Jane Nauert

Billie Jane Nauert October 06, 1949 - March 29, 2011 Funeral services for Billie Jane Nauert, 61, of Tatum, will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 am at Tatum Church of Christ with Eddy Coleman and Jessie Agnew, officiating ministers. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Billie was born on October 6, 1949 in Hobbs, NM to Roy Newel and Frieda (Koch) Williams and passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at her Tatum home. She grew up on a ranch at Tatum, attended Tatum schools and graduated in 1967 from Tatum High School. She was employed by Tatum schools for 31 years, serving in a variety of capacities. She was very community oriented, from making quilts for the kindergarten kids to working with the Tatum Alumni Assoc. She was a member of the Cemetery Committee, the 380 Project, Meals on Wheels, Centennial Committee, United Way and the Cow Pasture Golf. In earlier years she followed her boys to all their athletic activities and kept books for the ballgames. She remained active in the athletic programs at Tatum until recently. During this time she met her husband, Rondal Nauert, and they married on August 2, 1991 in Tatum. She was also a long-time active member of Tatum Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Rondal of the home, two sons: Buster and wife Lisa Brown of Gruver, TX and Royce and wife Gail Brown of Alto, NM and a step-son, Greg and wife Elaine Nauert of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Newelene Williams Pe?a of Lovington and nephew, Steven and wife Wyndi Pe?a of Tatum; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
