Helen Rose Nickell December 31, 1919 - May 29, 2015 Graveside funeral services for Helen Rose Stroud Nickell, 95, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Tatum Cemetery. Helen was born on December 31, 1919 in Easton, Kansas to Samuel and Emma “Daisy” (Willson) Warden and passed away on May 29, 2015 in Hobbs, NM at Lea Regional Hospital. She attended nursing school and received her LPN, then later she was employed by Liberty Bank in Lovington and then in Tatum, retiring from the bank. She was married to William “Bill” Stroud in 1941 in Leavenworth, Kansas and they had two children, Samuel and David. In later years, Helen married Cecil C. Nickell in 1989 in Mabank, TX. She enjoyed traveling with Cecil and their friends in the Good Sam club and liked sewing, needlework and quilting. After Cecil’s death she moved back to Tatum but had been residing at the Good Samaritan Center in Lovington for the last two years. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers: Elmer and Clarence Warden and one sister: Hester Hazel and two sons: Samuel Stroud and David Stroud. She is survived by four grandchildren: Steven and wife Lisa Stroud of Tatum, NM ; Christy and husband Deryl Hoodenpyle of Wolfforth, TX; Michelle Stroud and Sean Stroud both from the Dallas area; also surviving her are four great-grandchildren: Samantha and husband Ryan Capps of Tatum, NM; Dakota Stroud of Amarillo, TX and Skyler and Chase Hoodenpyle of Wolfforth, TX; and her daughter-in-law, Stevie Stroud of Tatum, NM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from noon till 8:00 pm with the family in residence at the funeral home at 6:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com
