Betty Frances "Conkey" Norris
September 27, 1934 - December 23, 2014
Betty Frances “Conkey” Norris was called home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Lovington, NM. Arrangements for her services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. She was born September 27, 1934 in Elbow, TX to Robert Henderson White and Jessie Cordie Cooper, Conkey was fourth of five sisters. She was raised in Snyder, TX and attended Snyder High School where she was a head cheerleader and Miss SHS. While living in Snyder, she worked at Harris Pharmacy and Williams Jewelry store.
Mother loved working at Nowell Pharmacy and the customers she served. She loved raising her children, reading, cooking, sewing, fishing, china painting, traveling and making people laugh. She was famous for her sweet tea, playing the slots and her daily scrabble battles with her husband, Jack. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Conkey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Jean Norris and sisters, Avanell Keller, Veda Sumruld and Bobbye Jean Greene. She is survived by sister, JoAnn Bentley of Midland TX., her children, Barry Dale (Michelle) of San Angelo TX., Dennis Jay (Sharon) of El Paso TX., Celinda Gay, Russell Max (Suzanne) of Lovington, her grandchildren Clayton Ross, Kathleen, Drew, Amanda Beth (Matt) , Jordyn Brooke, Frankie Leeann and Jake; step-grandchildren Steven, Zack, Bobby, Kelly and Samantha; great-grandchildren Joel, Rigel, Noah, Katie and Allison. She was loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at a later date in Snyder, Texas.
