She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated school there and later met and married Denver Northrip in Van Buren, Arkansas on May 17, 1952. She and Denver moved to Lovington in 1968 and made their home here. She did administrative work for several companies but was employed with Ferguson Construction Company for many years. Lucretia was well known for her entries at the Lea County Fair every year, as she took home numerous blue ribbons for her jellies, fruit and flowers. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family and friends. She was head of the kitchen committee at Jackson Ave Baptist Church for many years and ran it with love, compassion and lots of food. At the family gatherings on holidays she made sure everyone that came had their favorite dessert prepared for them and she always had homemade ice cream on hand. She was a member of Jackson Ave Baptist Church, the VFW, the American Legion and the Lovington Extension Club. In the last three years she took great joy in serving with the Nor-Lea Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her flowers but her love was her family and “Mollie” her Border Collie. Her bright smile and sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all her knew her.
