Watch the Tribute James Bruce Olliff August 28, 1942 - December 13, 2011 Memorial services for James Bruce Olliff, 69, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Wright officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Mr. Olliff was born in Spur, Texas on August 28, 1942 to George C. and Audie Lee (Pearson) Olliff and passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his residence. He married Barbara Whitson on December 31, 1984 in Seminole, Texas. Prior to moving to Hobbs, James lived and worked in the oil and gas industry of West Texas. He came to Hobbs 27 years ago and operated his own business called “Mr. Sno-Cone.” He was well known at the schools and summer recreational programs by all the children and they called him “Mr. Sno-Cone”. He was great with kids and was a big-hearted man with a very compassionate nature. He possessed a great love for his country, being patriotic and participated in local Tea Party activities. He was involved in raising game chickens at one time. James enjoyed cooking, dancing, skiing, arrowhead hunting, and golf. He was a blessing to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Neil and Jerry Lee Olliff. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home, his special grandson, Ein Daniels of the home; one son, John David Olliff of Odessa, TX. one daughter, Jennifer Olliff of Dallas, TX. one sister, Paula Sue Olliff of Dallas, TX. and three grandchildren, Chase, Ashley and Olivia.
