Obituary of Emmer Maretha Patterson

Emmer Maretha Patterson December 13, 1916 - January 13, 2008 Funeral services for Emmer Maretha Patterson, 91, of Tatum will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Benjamin, TX with Bro. Troy Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow at Benjamin Cemetery. Mrs. Patterson was born December 13, 1916 in Kaufman County, TX. She passed away January 13, 2008 in Lovington, NM. She married Rex Patterson on December 3, 1933 in Benjamin, TX. Mrs. Patterson came by train at 16 months old to Benjamin, TX. She was active at First Baptist Church at Benjamin, TX. She picked cotton, raised hogs, dairy farmed, gardened, was a caregiver, cooked and served for other people and enjoyed quilting. Mrs Patterson was the last surviving member of Enon Primative Baptist Church of Vera, TX. She is survived by one son, Weldon Patterson and wife Marjorie of Fresno, CA; one daughter, Sharon Bivins and husband Karson of Tatum, NM; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvor Franklin and Eula Bivins; her husband, Rex Patterson; three brothers and one sister.
