Obituary of Leonor Porras

Leonor Porras August 21, 1922 - April 18, 2018 Funeral services for Leonor Porras, 95, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Revival Center Church. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Leonor was born on August 21, 1922 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Mauricio and Flora (Franco) Aranda and passed away on April 18, 2018 at her residence. She moved to Lovington, NM over 50 years ago. Mrs. Porras was a faithful and dedicated member of Faith Chapel Church and was considered quite a prayer warrior and very diligent Bible reader. She was the matriarch of the family; she kept them laughing and the family close together, sharing good and tough times together. She had a great sense of humor and was loved dearly by her family. The family loved her cooking and she made lunch for all them every day at noon and if the family didn’t go to church they had to sit at another dining table. Mrs. Porras left some wonderful memories and a legacy of things she taught her family, like fun times, doing things right and great work ethics and a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband: Remijio Porras Sr; her parents: Mauricio and Flora Franco; two sons: Javier and Jesus Jose Porras; two brothers: David and Anastacio Aranda; three sisters: Eloisa Juarez, Consuelo Gomez, and Victorina Alvarado Surviving her are her four sons: Armando and wife Irene Aranda of Lovington, NM, Robert Lujan of Hobbs, NM, Remijio Jr. and wife Connie Porras of Lovington, NM; Victor and wife Diana Porras of Lovington, NM; two daughters: Lucila and husband Rogelio Gonzalez of El Paso, TX, and Delma and husband Gregorio Rodriguez of Lovington, NM; two sisters: Agripina and husband Emilio Acosta of Odessa, TX, and Antonia Acosta of Odessa, TX; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from noon until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
