M. C. "Pete" Powell June 10, 1924 - October 06, 2009 Funeral services for M. C. “Pete” Powell, 85, of Lovington, will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Pete was born June 10, 1924 in Texas to M. C. and Mary (Chappell) Powell and passed away at Nor-Lea Hospital on December 6, 2009. He moved to Lovington from Snyder, Texas about 35 years ago and was a self-employed mechanic. His favorite pastime was drinking coffee at the Ranch House with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pete is survived by three sons: Mack Powell and Shannon of Lovington, NM; M. C. Jr. and wife Mozell Powell of Dallas, TX and Mike Pierson of Texas. One brother, Elmo Powell of Ft. Worth, TX and one sister, Mary Helen Brandon of Snyder, TX and a special family friend, Sheila Lambert of Lovington; eighteen grandchildren including Alexis Powell, Khadjiana and Drevan Powell of Lovington and Taylor Pierson of Arkansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 8:30 am until 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 8:30 am until service time. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
