Obituary of Lloyd Wayne Powers

Lloyd Wayne Powers March 31, 1943 - June 18, 2009 Mr. Lloyd Wayne Powers, 66, of Hobbs, NM passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Lea Regional Hospital. He was born to Lloyd Lee & Annie Luce Powers on March 31, 1943 in Carlsbad, NM. Cremation will take place under the direction of Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home with no other services planned. Mr. Powers was raised in Carlsbad & Hobbs and resided in several cities before returning to Hobbs to make his home. He married Jody Nicholson on July 7, 1977 in San Marcos, TX. Lloyd was a collector of many things & he enjoyed helping people. He is survived by his wife, Jody, of the home, 3 sons: Ricky & wife Laura Nicholson of Phoenix, AZ; Lloyd “Thumper” Powers of Seminole, TX; and Roger Powers, 3 daughters: Rebecca Burks, Cathy Nicholson of Stockton, CA and Amber Powers of Hobbs; 2 brothers: Tommy & Billy Powers of the Ft. Worth area and 3 sisters: Jolene & husband Mike Sears, Jerry & husband Glen Huckabee and Karen Rittenhouse all of the Ft. Worth area. Grandchildren: Taylor Cheyenne, Christopher, Simeon and Makayla, Dustin Raven Lee, Joshua and 10 more grandchildren, also 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bobby Powers, and a son, Randy Nicholson.
