Acena Lee Reeser
August 17, 1933 - January 02, 2017
Funeral services for Acena “Acie” Lee Reeser, 83, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Acie was born on August 17, 1933 in Brownfield, TX to Hardy and Addie Lee (Wigley) Bowlin and passed away in Lubbock, TX on January 2, 2017 following a lengthy illness. She married Wayne Franklin Reeser on October 2, 1954 and they had one son, Roy. They lived in Tahoka for several years before relocating to Clayton, NM to farm. In 1969 they settled in Lovington and Wayne co-operated K & R Welding, worked as a lineman and then entered the oilfield, where he retired from Peterson Drilling Co. in 1999. Acie worked part-time at Wacker’s and Gibson’s in the early years, also devoting her time to church, being a homemaker and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years. After Wayne’s passing, Acie went to live in Levelland for five years with her youngest sister, Glenda, who cared for her until 2013. While there, she attended Park Drive Baptist Church. She was a popular resident of Lovington Good Samaritan Center in Lovington for the last three years. Acie was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of three and fought the disease her entire life. Although she was small in stature, she was huge in spirit and determination. She survived not only diabetes, but two heart attacks, two broken hips, a blood deficiency disorder and numerous bouts of pneumonia in her later years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her brother, Bobby Bowlin.
Surviving her is her son: Roy Gene and wife Tomie Reeser of Lovington; two sisters: Virginia King and Glenda Hinz, both of Levelland, TX; her natural grandson: David Wayne and wife Angie Reeser of Lovington; two great-grandchildren: Emily and Jordan Reeser of Hobbs, NM and seven adopted grandchildren: Miranda Quintana of Hobbs, Justin Brookover and Chase Moore , both of Austin, TX, Lara Cordova and husband TJ of Plains, TX, Chelsea Moore, Kody and Evan Houston, all three of Lovington and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
