Obituary of Alan Hix Rice

Alan Hix Rice October 13, 1930 - July 02, 2013 Funeral services for Alan Hix Rice, 82, of Bowie, Texas will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Marty Akins and Bob Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. New Mexico arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home and Texas arrangements are under the direction of White Family Funeral Home of Bowie. Mr. Rice was born on October 13, 1930 in County Line, Texas to Leonard and Mary Jane (Sullivan) Rice and passed away in Bowie, Texas on July 2, 2013. He married Margie Gore on April 1, 1955 in Lovington, NM. Alan served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a cross country truck driver in the oil field for 22 years and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Denver City, TX and of the Bowie VFW Post 8789. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving him are his wife Margie of the home; one son: Danny and wife Joyce Rice of Denver City, TX; two daughters: Marla Pigeon and Randy Bozarth of Escondido, CA and Carla and husband Robert Smith of Bowie, TX; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two brothers: Jimmy and wife Vivian Rice of Denver City, TX and Ronnie and wife, Jerri Rice of Sugarland, TX; one sister: Peggy and husband Steve Kenyon of Gordonville, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
