Obituary of Guadalupe Rodriguez

Guadalupe Rodriguez October 31, 1922 - September 06, 2016 Funeral services for Guadalupe Rodriguez, 93, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00 am at Living Waters Church with Zac Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with David Vistine officiating at the graveside. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Rodriguez was born on October 31, 1922 and passed away on September 6, 2016 in Lovington. He enjoyed working and for about thirty years he worked for cotton gins and also worked for the Lovington Schools for several years. He was the type of man that could fix almost anything. Guadalupe was a devoted Christian and attended New Hope Ministries Church and enjoyed music, especially hearing his children playing and singing. Guadalupe served in the US Army for a short time. He married Rosa Fabela in 1951 and they have shared almost 65 years together. He was a very patient man that raised six children and was very family oriented. He was known to everyone, family and friends, as “grandpa”. Guadalupe was very knowledgeable and was educated by life and earned the love and respect of all his children, family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Arturo; one sister: Virginia Hernandez; four brothers: Alfredo, Julian, Domingo and Inez. Surviving him is his wife Rosa of the home; two daughters: Ilda and husband David Vistine of Las Cruces, NM and Sonya and husband David Gallegos of Eunice, NM; five sons: Juan Ramon and wife Petra of El Paso, TX, Lupe and wife Martha of Lovington, Ray and wife Connie of Corpus Christi, TX, Sam and wife Catina of Lovington and Trini and wife Jennifer of Lovington; and one brother: Jesus and wife Hortencia Rodriguez of Lamesa, TX and two sisters: Elvira Narvais of Lubbock, TX and Carmen Fraga of Ogden, Utah. Also, a special family member: Ermalinda and husband William Alcorta of Lovington; twenty two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
