Obituary of Maria Grace Rodriguez

Maria Grace Rodriguez July 14, 1946 - December 13, 2016 Funeral services for Maria Grace Rodriguez, 70, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Redentor Molina officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Ms. Rodriguez was born on July 14, 1946 in Lamesa, TX to Isidro and Rufina (Pesina) Reyes and passed away at her home in Lovington on December 13, 2016. Maria loved playing bingo and enjoyed cooking. The family moved to Lovington in 1952 and she attended school in Tatum, then moved to Lovington schools and graduated at LHS. In early years she waitressed and was employed with the State of NM and later worked the voting polls. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and her favorite saying was “How about that sports fans?”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel and her stepfather, Sipriano Lopez. Surviving her are her two sons: Ricky and wife Raquel Rodriguez of Odessa, TX; and Gabriel and wife Peggy Rodriguez of Albuquerque, NM; her mother: Rufina Lopez of Hobbs, NM; one sister: Ninfa and husband Jesse Navarrette of Lovington; three grandchildren Daniel, Jonathan and Marissa and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 am until rosary time at 6:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.
