Obituary of Emma Rolls

Emma "Jean" Rolls July 12, 1927 - February 14, 2016 Funeral services for Emma “Jean” Rolls, 88, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 2:30 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Bro. Harry Pittam officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Jean was born in Littlefield, TX on July 12, 1927 to W. T. and Ruby (Ball) Vereen and passed away at Lovington Good Samaritan Center on February 14, 2016. She grew up in Sudan, TX and graduated from High School there before attending Beauty School in Lubbock, TX. She was employed at Lucille’s Beauty Shop and Lovington Beauty Shop and also had a chair at Pansy’s and Chay’s beauty shops during her tenure as a hair stylist. Jean was a hard working woman and raised her three children with love and ethics. Her children’s friends loved Jean, she was like a magnet drawing them into her family’s lives and they would also call her “mama”. She was very family oriented and loved her children and grandchildren. She was a feisty lady with a good sense of humor and enjoyed Bingo, and Bowling. She especially liked bowling and going with her friends to “Vegas” and they made many trips there as she loved her Vegas trips! She also enjoyed music and dancing and singing. She married Bobby Rolls in Lovington on February 16, 1980 and they shared 36 years of life and love together. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Travis Crouch; one sister: Billie Lynn Vereen and two grandsons: Buddy Crouch III and Daniel Clint Layh. Surviving her is her husband, Bobby of the home; three daughters: Carla Duncan of Carlsbad, NM; Dona and husband Dearl Edge of Midland, TX and Mary and husband Mike Layh of New Braunfels, TX; three sons: Buddy and wife Bette Crouch of Lovington; James Lee and wife Barbara Rolls of Odessa, TX and Marty and wife Leslie Rolls of Georgetown, TX; and one sister: Mary Evelyn Henson of Littlefield, TX; sixteen grandchildren ,numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm with the family in residence from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
