Obituary of Cora Belle Ruggs

Cora Belle "Corky" Ruggs October 09, 1923 - February 10, 2007 Services for Cora Belle "Corky" Ruggs, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date in Oklahoma. Visitation is set on Tuesday, February 13, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home is directing arrangements. Born October 9, 1923, at Blackwell, Oklahoma, she passed away February 10, 2007, at her Lovington residence. She was married to Jack E. Ruggs on January 31, 1951, in Blackwell. She moved to Lovington in 1953. She and her husband owned and operated Ole Jax restaurant from 1955 to 1978. She enjoyed china painting and oil painting, and attended beautician school and was a model for Merle Norman at one time. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and attended First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of the home; three daugters, Jackie Sue Ruggs and Shellie and her husband, Clifford Madden of Lovington; and Connie Beth McCoy of Fredrica, Delaware; a sister, Neomah Shroff of Halstead, Kansas; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Bertha Shroff; a brother, Russell Shroff; and two sisters, Lanora Hilshimer and Lela Houston.
