Obituary of Billy Wayne Ruth

Billy Wayne Ruth April 08, 1941 - July 03, 2014 Funeral services for Billy Wayne Ruth, 73, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Bro. Travis VanMeter officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Mr. Ruth was born on April 8, 1941 in Roswell, NM to Earnest Wilson and Nellie (Taylor) Ruth and passed away in Lubbock, TX on July 3, 2014. He came to Lovington in 1957 and married his sweetheart, Elaine Smith in Lovington on December 12, 1959. Billy opened and operated Ruth Pumping Service in 1969 and in the mid 80’s he was employed by Devon until his retirement, although he kept Ruth Pumping Service also. He was the epitome of a Christian husband and father and was a “fixture at Hillcrest Baptist Church,” serving in whatever capacity needed. He enjoyed boating and fishing and family trips to visit family. His Godly wisdom and love for his family will leave a large void in their lives and the lives of his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Jerry Will Ruth and one sister: Barbara Faye Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Elaine of the home; two sons: Aaron Wade II and wife Amy Ruth of Lovington and Steven Wayne and wife Valorie Ruth of Weiser, Idaho; one brother: Randy Walter Ruth of Rogers, Arkansas; three sisters: Kathy and husband Donald Craft of Troy, TX; Linda and husband Jim Stroup of Rogers, Arkansas; Becky Ruth of Troy, Texas; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 10:30 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
