Obituary of Mary E. Salazar

Mary E. Salazar November 29, 2010 Graveside funeral services for Mary E. Salazar, 74, of Jal, NM will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Jal Cemetery with Bro. Mike May and Bro. Allan Speed officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Jal. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Salazar was born on April 1, 1936 in Delta, Colorado to Blas and Benita (Rodriguez) Prieto and passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX. She was married to Antonio M. Salazar on April 6, 1957 in Sanderson, TX and they moved to Jal fifty years ago. Mary was well known for her love and care in babysitting the majority of the kids in Jal. She raised her children and grandchildren and gave every ounce of herself in caring for family and friends. She enjoyed embroidery work, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and watching her TV programs. She was a loving, giving lady that will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children: Johnny Salazar and Benita Abeyta Gomez; one grandson: Andy Lopez and three brothers: Jesse, Juan and Jose Prieto. She is survived by three sons: Joe and wife Anna Abeyta of Jal; Ricky and wife Carol Abeyta of Hobbs and Michael Salazar of Jal; five daughters: Rosie and husband Bobby Boen of Jal; Cynthia and husband David Lacy of Edmond, OK; Sandra and husband Raymond Russell of Jal; Abby Lopez of Jal and Sara and husband Rene Marquez of Hobbs; three brothers: Robert and Lupe Prieto of Ogden, UT and Camillo Prieto of AZ; four sisters: Peggy Chavez of AZ; Isabel “Peewee” Herrera of CA; Shirley Reed of AZ and Esther Nazarrio of Odessa, TX.
