Obituary of Paul Dixon Salsman

Paul Dixon Salsman June 04, 1932 - October 20, 2015 Private memorial services for Paul Dixon Salsman, 83, of Lovington, NM will be held on November 7, 2015. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Salsman was born on June 4, 1932 in Kiefer, Oklahoma to Byno and Etta Jane (Greenwood) Salsman and passed away at Good Samaritan Center on October 20, 2015. He married Yvonne Dean Weems in Stillwater, Oklahoma on April 7, 1953. Paul came to Lovington in 1965 then returned to Oklahoma and in 1988 came to Lovington and made his home. He worked in the oilfields for over forty years as a tool pusher, where he helped many younger men get their start. He was active for many years with the Appaloosa Horse Club. He loved raising his Boxer dogs after his retirement and recently his main enjoyment has been his two precious Pekinese dogs, “Buster” and “Chloe.” He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Yvonne, and two sons: Paul Salsman II, and Sammy Salsman; two brothers: Byno and Shorty Salsman and one sister: Carmalita “Corky” Hilthon. He is survived by two daughters: Deborah and husband, Carl Lovelace of Lovington and Brenda Salsman of Lovington; two brothers: Leroy and wife Sharon Salsman of Ft. Worth, TX and Mickey Salsman; four sisters: Alice of Alamogordo, NM, Lorretta and husband Herb Atkins of Amarillo, TX; Katricia “Cookie” and husband Calvin Irvin of Cherokee, OK, and Dela Lavern and husband Gene Hickman of Perkins, OK; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
