Obituary of Shaun Jason Sanchez

Shaun Jason Sanchez July 03, 1983 - April 15, 2016 Funeral services for Shaun Jason Sanchez, 32, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Pastors, Matthew K. Garcia and Cornelio Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Shaun was born on July 3, 1983 in Hobbs, NM to Jose C. and Delma (Montez) Sanchez Jr. and passed away on April 15, 2016 in Lovington. Shaun grew up in Lovington and graduated from LHS where he played football, basketball and ran track. He loved sports and his favorite numbers were #1 & #11 as they were his numbers in high school. He also liked golf and still played when he got the chance. His big enjoyment was the big remote control cars and playing sports with his son. Shaun enjoyed bow hunting, taking his kids to McDonalds and being their dad. His daughter had him wrapped around her finger and his son wanted to play football like his dad. He was well-known for his generosity, his happy attitude and his teasing nature and his smile would light up a room when he entered. Shaun was a very caring, humble man and liked to help others. He loved and respected his hero, “His Dad”, and loved his Mom very much. Shaun was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jose M. and Aide (Chapa) Sanchez Sr. and Chon and Maria (Cabezuela) Montez. He is survived by his parents: Jose C. and Delma Sanchez Jr.; one son: Maddox Gage Sanchez of Lovington and one daughter: Maycie Elizabeth Sanchez of Lovington; one sister: Sandy Lee and husband Cory Ellis of Hawaii and one brother: Little Joe Sanchez III and partner, Kayla Taylor of Lovington and the mother of his children: Candace Leal of Lovington; also several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. There will be a short service on Tuesday night from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm at the funeral home during the visitation.
