Obituary of James Ralph Schooley

James Ralph "Jim" Schooley March 15, 1913 - October 05, 2009 Funeral services for James “Jim” R. Schooley, 96, of Jal, NM will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church in Jal with Bro. Allen Speed will officiating. Burial will follow at Jal Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the family in residence from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington, NM. Jim was born on March 15, 1913 in Crekold, Oklahoma to William and Estella (Whiteman) Schooley and passed away on October 5, 2009 at his residence in Jal. He married Norma Hustins Miller on January 18, 2004 in Jal, NM. Jim served in WWII in the Army Air Force. He was a 50 year Mason, member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired after 30 years as Maintenance Superintendent for EPNG Company. He enjoyed going fishing at Del Rio and was an avid golf player. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Frances (Armstrong) Schooley; five sisters, Mary, Irene, Grace, Jessie and Laura Schooley and one brother, William Lawrence Schooley. He is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; one son, David and wife Donna Schooley of Lovington, NM; one daughter, Jan and husband Peter Mocho of Albuquerque, NM; one step-son, Otto Miller of Eufala, OK; three step-daughters, Elizabeth Grant of Lubbock, TX; Tina Miller of Albuquerque, NM and Stephanie Perteet of Jal, NM; one sister, Jo Aydelott of Denver, CO; twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
