Obituary of Roy Simpson

Watch the Tribute Roy Simpson March 29, 1937 - December 20, 2013 Funeral services for Roy Simpson, 76, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home in Lovington with Bro. Matt Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hobbs, NM. Mr. Simpson was born on March 27, 1937 in Humble City, NM to H. H. and Vera (Pruitt) Simpson and passed away on December 20, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center in Lovington. Roy married Gladys Cortez on May 8, 1954 in Lovington and they shared fifty nine years together. He enjoyed fishing and quail hunting but loved playing golf. He had lived in Lea County the majority of his life and was employed for twenty five years by Ralph Johnson in the oilfield industry. He was a people person and was also very devoted to his dogs, “Sadie” and “Chism”. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Wayne & Jack Simpson; two sisters: Eleanor Simpson & Hazel Smithee and one granddaughter: Alaina Simpson. Roy is survived by his wife, Gladys of the home; two sons: Steve and wife Judy Simpson of Hobbs and Keith and wife Melissa Simpson of Hobbs; one daughter: Karla and husband Don Quimby of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren: Margaret, Chad, Jeff, Justin, Brandon, Darren and Lacreesha and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23rd from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
