Obituary of Deborah Joyce Sims

Deborah Joyce Sims October 16, 1965 - September 16, 2016 Funeral services for Deborah Joyce “Debbie” Sims, 50, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Lovington. She was born on October 16, 1965 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Elvis Earl and Joyce Earlene (Mitchell) Edwards and passed away at her residence in Hobbs on September 16, 2016. Debbie’s wish was to be cremated and following the service her children will honor that request. She was a retired R.N. and has been a peer counselor for the Guidance Center. She was an “old school person” although she really liked motorcycles. She enjoyed her family very much and when she tried to correct her children, she would get tickled and start laughing. She was a very selfless, loving mother and giving person. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Steven Ray Sims. Surviving her are her three sons: Sean Sims of Sulphur, OK; Isaac Lechuga and Joshua Lechuga both of Hobbs, NM; two daughters: Meghan Sims-Hodnett of Oklahoma City and Elizabeth Lechuga of Hobbs, NM and daughter-in-law Deavan Sims-Hodnett of Oklahoma City; one brother: Elvis Earl Edwards Jr. of Missouri; one sister: Kelly Johnston of San Angelo, TX and three grandchildren: Sarah Green, BraeLynn Green and Lincoln Green.
