Obituary of James Patrick Smith

James Patrick Smith March 17, 1965 - August 28, 2015 Memorial services for James “Jimmy” Patrick Smith, 50, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Jackson Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. James was born on March 17, 1965 in Sacramento, CA. to Ronald Charles and Phyllis (Kilgore) Smith and passed away on August 28, 2015 at his residence. He grew up in Santee, California and attended Santana High School before moving to Lovington, NM and has been here for 10 years. He was a truck driver and also enjoyed mechanic work. He loved fishing and collecting guns. He was very much a family man and loved being with his family and having barbecues. James listened to country music and liked watching western movies, especially John Wayne. He was a boisterous man with a loud voice but was very respectful and very protective of others. He was preceded in death by his step brother Ricky Lehman. James is survived by his wife: Janette Smith of Lovington, his father and step-mother, Ronald Charles and Sheryl Smith of Lovington, and his mother: Phyllis Kilgore of San Diego, CA; his step-father Larry Lehman of San Diego, CA; one son: James “Jimmy” Jr and fiancée Angelica Sandoval; one step-daughter: Caitlyn Tucker of Lovington; three brothers: Ronald and wife Nancy Smith of San Diego, CA, Donald Smith of San Diego, and Dale and wife Norma Smith of Arizona and one grandchild, Xavier Sandoval.
