Obituary of Lester Travis Smith

Lester Travis Smith Jr. August 26, 1954 - September 17, 2014 Memorial services for Lester Travis Smith Jr, 60, of Jal, New Mexico will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Alan Speed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born on August 26, 1954 in Gainesville, TX to Lester T. and Neoma (Maggord) Smith Sr. and passed away at his home on September 17, 2014. He came to Jal in 1995 to make his home. He grew up in an oilfield family and worked in all aspects of the oilfield until an accident in 1997. He enjoyed fishing with his boys; was a softball coach for boys and a cub scout master and he enjoyed working on cars. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving him are his wife, Sharol of the home, two sons: Lester Travis Vaughan Smith and Jordan Wayne Smith of Jal; two sisters: Latona “Skipper” and husband Gerald of Monahans, TX and Gidget and husband Bruce Treadaway of Balmarrea, TX.
