Obituary of Linda Sue Collis

Linda Sue Collis September 24, 1940 - October 23, 2016 Funeral services for Linda Sue Collis, 76, of Hobbs, NM and formerly of Lovington will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Bro. officiating. Linda was born in Lovington on September 24, 1940 to Albert Wiedman and Mary Inez (Clayton) Haggerton and passed away on October 23, 2016 in Hobbs, NM. She grew up in Lovington and graduated from LHS in 1958. She married Jerry Collis Sr. in Lovington on February 10, 1962 and they shared 54 years of marriage. Linda worked at A & A Feed Store and Montgomery Ward, and was also a school bus driver for Lovington and Hobbs schools. When she and Jerry were living in Oklahoma, she went to cosmetology school and worked as a beautician and became a cosmetology instructor. She enjoyed sewing, painting, quilting and bowling and enjoyed fishing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Sr.; two brothers: Donnie and Thomas Haggerton; two sisters: Sherry and Ruby Haggerton; and one granddaughter: Cynda Cawley. Surviving her are her three sons: Jerry and wife Tana Collis of Lovington, NM, Steven Collis of Hobbs, NM, and Randy and wife Tammy Collis of Midland, TX; three brothers: Butch and wife Carla Haggerton of Tatum, NM, Joe and wife Darlene Haggerton of Mineola, TX and David and wife Ava Haggerton of Abilene, TX; two sisters: Sammy and husband Sonny Houston of Lovington and Patsy and husband Johnny Erwin of Elephant Butte, NM ; ten grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, October 28th from noon until 8:00 pm at the funeral home
