Ann Steele November 09, 1916 - August 04, 2008 Graveside funeral services for Ann Steele will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Lovington Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Born in Magdalena, New Mexico on November 9, 1916 to parents, John & Grady Payne, she passed away on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs, New Mexico. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Steele was married to Clarence Kirby Steele on July 17, 1937 in Reserve, NM. She worked on ranches most of her life, she was a true cow puncher North of Pietown, NM in the early years of her life. She raised and sold cattle in the South Valley up by Albuquerque, later working in restaurants in Albuquerque. She moved to Tatum in 1987 to be closer to her brother and has lived there ever since. She was a good friend and a hard working cowgirl with a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Kirby Steele, her parents, John & Grady Payne and her brother, Thomas Elliott Payne. She is survived by a host of friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 7th from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
