Obituary of John Robert Sterling

John Robert Sterling June 25, 1966 - August 13, 2018 A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Polk Street Apartments, 214 Polk Ave, in Lovington from noon until 2:00 pm for John Robert Sterling II, 52 of Lovington, with a meal provided. Come and share your memories of John. He was born on June 25, 1966 in Spearman, TX to John Robert Sr and Nita Ann (Witherspoon) Sterling and passed away at his residence on August 13, 2018. He grew up and attended school in Hobbs, NM. He was an amazing woodworker and made beautiful furniture and chose to enter the construction business and became self-employed so he could share his talent with others. He enjoyed dirt biking and motorcycles and tinkering with cars and going to the Casino in his earlier years. He liked being with his family and friends, especially his best friend, Justin Wiesner, who has been a great support to him during his journey with MS and also his Therapy Dog, Reese, who stayed loyally by his side and was dearly loved. His greatest joy was his children, whom he loved with all his heart. John Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Nita Ann, one brother, Justin Sterling and one sister Juanita Sterling Boggs. He is survived by three daughters: Danielle and husband Richie Downing of Hobbs, NM; Kaitlyn and husband David Dubbs of Baldwin, LA and Kelsea Sterling of Plano, TX. Also, three grandchildren: Kenleigh, Blaize and Hudson Downing; three sisters: Novella and husband Ricky Smith of Hobbs, Nannette Morsey of Hobbs and Brandie and husband John Bates of Ponder, TX; also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
