Michael "Mike" Denton Stout
January 27, 1950 - April 09, 2017
Memorial services for Michael “Mike” D. Stout, 67, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mike was born on January 27, 1950 in Paris, Texas to Wesley E. and Louise I. (Stuart) Stout and passed away at his home on April 9, 2017. Mike had lived in several towns in Texas before moving to Ft. Sumner, NM. He played football for the Ft. Sumner Foxes and graduated from high school there before entering the US Air Force. He served six years in the service then worked in several different places before coming to Lovington. Ted Hester trained him to drive and move mobile homes and he became a professional truck driver, working in different places. He was employed with Steere Truck Lines in Artesia for awhile and returned to Lovington in 1981 and worked for Jerry Gore delivering fuel. He was a fuel transport driver most of his working life and was employed by E. D. Walton Construction. He hauled big equipment and then became safety man and most recently he did the CDL testing of drivers at the Jr. College in Hobbs and also worked part-time for Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. He married Anna Crozier in Ft. Sumner on October 9, 1969 and they have shared 48 years together. Mike was a great Christian man and served as deacon at Trinity Baptist Church for many years, where he was active in the ministry of the church. He was a laid back, easy going man with a terrific sense of humor and enjoyed nothing better than cutting up with his friends and having fun and meeting them in the early mornings for “coffee time” at Rustler’s Café. His phone rings for each person reflected his humor. He was a very caring man and was the care-giver for Anna’s folks and her sister when he was needed. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated dad to his children and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Wesley Stout.
Surviving him is his wife, Anna, of the home; two daughters: Michelle and husband Ronnie Pratt of Hobbs, NM and Lori Janette and husband Karl Zuege of San Angelo, TX; two brothers: Roy Ellis and wife Jana Stout of Lubbock, TX; David Thomas and wife Kay Stout of Edgewood, NM; one sister: Karon and husband Johnny Moore of Sherman, TX; three grandchildren: Jessop Colton Reynolds of Roscoe, TX, Matt Rubio of San Angelo, TX and Lyndsey Hermisillo of San Angelo, TX; one great-grandchild: Cami Hermisillo and a host of friends.
A notice will be posted in the paper later with the date and time of his service.
