Arthur Alphonso Stovall October 14, 1940 - September 29, 2016 Funeral services for Arthur Alphonso Stovall, 75, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 3rd & Central Church of Christ at 2:00 pm with David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Stovall was born in Charleston, West Virginia on October 14, 1940 to Arthur and Ruby (Buggs) Stovall and passed away at Nor-Lea Hospital on September 29, 2016 due to declining health. Mr. Stovall married Mildred Sims in Lovington on October 12, 1984 and they have shared thirty two years together. Arthur grew up in Charleston graduating from school there and then joined the US Marines in 1958. He was a member of 3rd and Central Church of Christ for many years. He enjoyed playing dominoes, golf, bowling and really liked softball. He retired from Navajo in 2006 after fifteen years of employment and also worked at the county clerk’s office as temporary help and he loved it! He was a congenial, well-liked and friendly man with a kind heart and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Sherry Stovall; one sister: Anna Dorcas; two stepsons: Frank Mims and Henry Trey O’Neal. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; three daughters: Anita Buntin of Columbus, Ohio; Trina Carlisle of Atlanta, GA; Crystal Stovall also of Atlanta; two stepdaughters: Beverly Wofford of Lovington and Burt Patterson of Hobbs ; eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, October 3, 2016 from noon until 8:00 pm at the funeral home with the family in residence from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
