Obituary of Jerry Melton Collis

Jerry Melton Collis Sr. August 14, 1942 - May 10, 2016 Funeral services for Jerry Melton Collis, 73, of Hobbs and formerly of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Brazil Officiating. Mr. Collis was born on August 14, 1942 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Cleon Franklin and Hazel Novella (Adams) Collis and passed away on May 10, 2016 in Odessa, TX. He attended high school in Lovington and had lived at Maljamar before moving into Lovington. He married Linda Sue Haggerton in Lovington on February 10, 1962 and they have shared 54 years of life and love together. Jerry worked for Gulf, Chevron and Warren companies as a field supervisor. He loved hunting and fishing and he taught his sons how to hunt and fish and they shared some good times together. He loved the sandhills and he loved being with his family and he had a good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing his boys. Jerry liked country and western music especially Don Williams music. He was a wonderful father and taught his boys to appreciate life, respect others and to laugh. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving him are his wife, Linda of the home, three sons: Jerry and wife Tana Collis of Lovington, Randy and wife Tammy Collis of Midland, TX and Steven Collis of Hobbs; one sister: Pat and husband Dean Willis of Lovington; ten grandchildren, twenty two great-children and one great-great grandchild on the way.
