Earlene Francis Sumruld February 14, 1944 - May 30, 2018 Earlene Sumruld, 74, of Tatum, NM passed away at her residence on May 30, 2018. She was born on February 14, 1944 in Sutter, California to Earl F. and Fanetia (Fields) Vaughn. She attended school in Tatum and was on the underwater ballet swim team. Earlene was employed in various jobs during her working years and served as a cashier at Safeway, Allsups, Levi Strauss and did waitressing in Truth or Consequences. She was a counselor in Midland for a Christian Broadcasting Company and was also a pumper at one time. She enjoyed horseback riding and dancing and she played the drums in the “Country Gold Band” with her husband for several years. She was a homemaker that loved her family and grandchildren and she loved the Lord. She liked Christian programs on TV and enjoyed watching the cooking shows and getting the recipes then giving them to her daughter to cook. She was a strong minded woman with compassion for others and was a caregiver for her mother until the past year. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Wayne Sumruld; one son: George Isaac and one daughter: Lori Diane; one sister: Odessa Mullenax and two grandchildren: David Isaac Robertson and Amanda Gail Collins. Surviving her are four daughters: Cindy and husband Terry Collins of Lovington, NM; Deborah and husband John Robertson of Eunice, NM; Melanie and husband David Richards of Lovington and Lisa and husband John Stich of Burnsville, MN; seven grandsons: Robert and Alyssa Collins of Roswell, NM; Steven and Kelly Collins of Hobbs, NM; Cody and Allyson Collins of Normandy, TN; Scott and Jazmin Collins of Denver City, TX; John E. and Jamie Robertson of Eunice, NM; Michael Robertson of Eunice and Blake Sumruld of Burnsville, MN; also several step grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Graveside memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at Resthaven Cemetery.
