Obituary of Eric Wayne Swenson

Eric Wayne Swenson July 18, 2012 - June 02, 2012 Eric Wayne Swenson, 76, went to be with the Lord June 2, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born on June 20, 1935 in Austin, Texas to Eric Carl and Thyra Anna Victoria Swenson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Vergil Ichtertz officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. On July 18, 1954 he married Carrie Kepford in Ringwood, Oklahoma. They resided in Wichita Falls, TX where Wayne worked for Warren Petroleum Corp. He then transferred to Lovington, NM where he worked for Chevron, Saunders Plant, for 40 years. During the same time he proudly served his country with 25 years in the Army National Guard. He also served his community with a combined total of 27 years with the Lovington and Knowles Volunteer Fire Departments. He was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Lovington and enjoyed participating in youth mission trips, where he enjoyed doing the cooking, and sidewalk Sunday school activities. He was a member of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast and was also an avid Wildcat fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, T. J. Swenson. He is survived by his wife, Carrie, his daughter, Carolyn Parsons and son, Barry Swenson, all of Lovington; five grandchildren: Jared and wife Micah Swenson of Lovington and Jaden Swenson of Albuquerque; Rusty, Chad and Jeff Williams of Hobbs and three great-grandchildren: Wyatt Williams and Alissa Lobeck of Lubbock, TX and Isiah Swenson of Lovington.
