Obituary of Mary Dolores Tafoya

Watch the Tribute Mary "Lola" Dolores Tafoya September 11, 1938 - February 26, 2013 Funeral services for Mary Dolores “Lola” Tafoya, 74, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverends’ Arthur Sanchez, Rudy Reyes and Robert Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mrs. Tafoya was born on September 11, 1938 to Ruperto and Rufina (Baca) Gonzalez in Tucumcari, NM and passed away on February 26, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. She married Ted Tafoya in Tucumcari on August 8, 1955 and they came to Lovington in 1980. She was a seamstress, enjoyed reading, singing and dancing, coloring in the coloring book with her grandchildren and loved being around her family and was a major encourager. She was a strong Christian woman and didn’t like to miss church. She was a member of the House of Prayer. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her husband of the home, four sons: Michael and wife Margie Tafoya and David and wife Barbara Tafoya both of Clovis, NM; Daniel and wife Laurie Tafoya of San Antonio, TX and Justin Chavez of Belen, NM; two daughters: Darla Tafoya of Lovington, and Debbie and husband Rudy Reyes of Lovington; one brother: Johnny Anaya of Belen and four sisters: Mary Lou and husband Juan Sanchez of Tucumcari, NM, Georgia and husband Robert Sanchez of Lubbock, TX, Betty and husband Ken Earle of El Dorado, NM, and Gloria and husband Leo Pacheco of San Jon, NM; Also ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and her very beloved friend and sister-in-Christ, Sandy Ortega.
