Obituary of Jimmie Taylor

Jimmie Taylor September 24, 1929 - October 26, 2016 Funeral services for Jimmie Earnestine Taylor, 87, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Randy Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Jimmie was born on September 24, 1929 in Reydon, OK to Ernie and Ella Julia (Dodson) Wilson and passed away on October 26, 2016 in Hobbs, NM. She graduated from school in Hardesty, OK in 1948 and worked at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop. She married Dane W. Taylor in Clovis, NM on January 15, 1952. Jimmie was a hard worker and when they came to Lovington in the late 50’s, she worked at Padges Flowers, Thriftway #2 and retired from Whites Auto. She was a good mom, making sure her children were taken care of and Christmas time was special, as she enjoyed cooking lots of good food and making sure the kids and grandkids all had a gift and plenty of food. She loved her dogs and was the dog sitter for her grown children when they went somewhere. Jimmie was a long time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a lifetime member of VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one grandson: John Derek Taylor. Surviving her is one son: Johnny and wife Brenda Taylor of Hobbs, NM; one daughter: Linda and husband Ed Harper of Lovington, NM; one brother: Jack and wife Loretta Wilson of Lubbock, TX; her grandchildren: Edward Harper of Carlsbad, NM; Melinda and husband Paul O’Reilly of Humble, TX and Carla Taylor of San Antonio, TX and five great grandchildren: Tarin, Aniya, Elizabeth, Dylan and Caitlyn. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with the family in residence at the funeral home.
