Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louise Teague January 16, 1922 - April 12, 2008 Louise was born in Clarksburg, WV on January 16, 1922, to Pat and Pauline Norman. She eventually was part of a large family consisting of seven sisters and one brother. She then resided in West Virginia and Maryland. In Baltimore she worked in a shipyard and an ammunition plant during WWII in her late teens and early twenties. In the late 40’s she made the decision to start a new life in New Mexico. She became a beautician who owned two salons in Lovington and Hobbs. Louise then had her wonderful children. Balancing children and a busy career, she started her cosmetology schools. She opened one in Hobbs, appropriately named “Charm School” and then one in Lovington known as “Louise’s School of Beauty.” She trained many local beauticians. Louise believed in beauty; she compared a woman’s beauty to a painting, the face being the painting and the hair being the frame. Louise would say everyone loves a pretty painting. In 1976, Louise was presented with an opportunity to get into the retail business. She turned her current business into the popular, “Louise’s Place.” She sold fine clothing and accessories for 15 years. Louise Teague truly was a successful self-made woman and entrepreneur. Louise peacefully passed away in her home in the early hours of April 12, 2008, she was doing what she loved most at the time; e-mailing her friends on the computer. Louise is survived by her soul-mate and the love of her life; husband George Teague. They shared a blissful 42 years together. Also, surviving are her three children, John Millsap of Indiana, Sharon Jones of Missouri and George Teague Jr. of Texas. There are two remaining sisters, Emma Jean Losh of Florida and Nellie Bailey of Tennessee. Also surviving are her four grandchildren; Natasha Ellis and Marty Ellis of Missouri, Joanie Panell of New Mexico and Kelley Teague of Texas, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday April 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith- Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Jerry McArthur, Pastor, will officiate.
