Obituary of Curtis Lee Thomas

Curtis Lee Thomas May 28, 1955 - September 30, 2016 Memorial services for Curtis Lee Thomas, 61, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Revival Center Church with Wayne Villar officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas was born on May 28, 1955 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Welton McSwine and Ethyl Thomas and passed away in Lubbock, TX on September 30, 2016. He was married to Lori Long on May 2, 2015 in San Diego, CA. While in California he was employed as a bouncer in different clubs and had also worked in building construction before his illness. He attended school in Greenwood, Chicago and then graduated from high school in San Diego. Curtis attended Bethany Assembly of God Church in San Diego before moving to Lovington in 2015. He had visited at First Assembly of God Church and also Revival Center Church in Lovington. He enjoyed barbecues and cookouts, the old Turner Classic movies and his favorite dog “OJ”. He and Lori both loved their four beautiful little dogs as they had no children together. Curtis especially loved his Mother. He was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his Dad and one sister: Dajuna Thomas. Surviving him is his wife, Lori of the home; his mother: Ethyl Globe of San Diego, CA; one son: Neil Thomas of Texas; two daughters: Tashina Thomas and husband Willie Horton of Phoenix, AZ and Tasha Thomas of Chicago, ILL; the mother of his children: Beth Cascaddan of Scottsdale, AZ; four sisters: Valerie Howard of Jacksonville, FL, Illinois Salaam, Tamiko Thomas and Consuelo Thomas, all three from San Diego, CA; and two granddaughters: Keana and Cree Horton of Scottsdale, AZ. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
