Hollis Oren Thorne November 27, 1921 - February 12, 2010 Memorial services for Hollis Oren Thorne, 88, will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Thorne was born on November 27, 1921 in Wichita Falls, Texas to D.B. and Ada (Gray) Thorne and passed away on February 12, 2010 in Hobbs, NM. He married Naomi Roena (Speck) Thorne in Seminole, TX on October 29, 1948. Hollis and his wife moved to Tatum in 1978 where he worked for Charles Lee Services before he owned and operated his own hot oil and dump truck business. He operated that business until he moved to Colorado City, TX in 1992 and then returned to Hobbs in 2009 to be closer to his daughter. He loved fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Mr. Thorne was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; one sister: Hazel Thorne, and two step-sons: Royce and Donald Bowman. He is survived by his wife Naomi Thorne of the home; two daughters: Brenda and husband Michael Levy of Hobbs, NM, and Judy and husband R.W. Waller of Hale Center, TX; one sister: Myrtle Hamilton of San Angelo, TX; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
