Obituary of Jose Tovar

Watch the Tribute Jose Tovar June 25, 1935 - February 19, 2013 Funeral services for Jose Tovar, 77, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Rosary will be on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Tovar was born on June 25, 1935 in Stockdale, Texas to Jose and Dolores (Cardenas) Tovar and passed away on February 19, 2013 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Mr. Tovar married Fay Ontiveros in Lovell, Wyoming on September 24, 1955 and they have shared 57 years together. Jose was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed his trips back home to San Antonio and he loved listening to Conjunto music. He always had a way to make people smile and laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ben Tovar and Frank Tovar and one sister: Aurora Monrrial and three sons: Andy Tovar, Ray Tovar and Rudy Tovar. He is survived by his wife Fay, of the home; three sons: Joe and wife Teresa Tovar, Eloy and wife Maryann Tovar, both of Lovington and Steven Tovar of Midland, TX; two daughters: Janie Sanchez and Miguel Barriga of Lovington and Lupe and husband Robert Madrid of Hobbs, NM; two brothers: Jesus and Juan Tovar of San Antonio, TX. Also, eleven grandchildren and 21 Great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 21st from 10:00 am until 6:30 at the funeral home and then to the rosary at the church.
