Beatrice "Boots" Cook May 11, 1927 - March 20, 2010 Memorial services for Beatrice Virginia Curtis Cook, 82, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Grace Community Church in Roswell, NM with Rev. Rick Hale and Jason Perry officiating. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2010. There will also be a funeral service at Kirby Smith Rogers Funeral Home in Lovington, New Mexico on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with interment held at the Lovington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Boots was born on May 11, 1927 in Littlefield, Texas. Her parents were Dow and Mary Beth Wood who preceded her in death. She grew up on a ranch in Lovington, New Mexico and attended school there. She married James Wallace Cook on July 10, 1945. They were blessed with one daughter, Marilyn and one son Earl Wade, who died shortly after birth. After 31 years of marriage, he preceded her in death. She later married Frank E. Curtis who also preceded her in death after 24 years of marriage. She owned and operated a children’s clothing store in Lovington and worked in the banking industry for several years. Her true passion was art. She was a talented artist and eventually opened Wagon Wheel Framing and Gallery, where she worked up until the time of her death. She was a member of Grace Community Church. She collected Indian artifacts including jewelry and pots. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. In her later years she spent her time spoiling her faithful companion, Charlie Chan, a Shih Tzu. She is survived by her daughter Marliyn Wagner and husband Gary, of Roswell; Grandson Noel Wagner and wife Sara of Fort Worth, Texas; Granddaughter Sara Stevens and husband Ty of Big Lake, Texas; Great-grandchildren Cooper Wagner and Sadie and Daelyn Stevens. Her vibrant personality and zest for life will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
