Lorenzo H. Vargas August 10, 1938 - January 11, 2007 A memorial service for Lorenzo H. Vargas, 68, of Lovington will be held at 2pm.Sunday,Januarey 14, at Good News Asesembly of God. Rev.Jimmy Bayes will officiate. Kirby-Smith Rogers FuneralHome is directing arrangements. Cremation has taken place. Born August 10, 1938,at San Antonio, Texas, he passed away on January 11, 2007, at his Lovington residence. He was married to Ruth Lightowler Vargas 29 years ago. He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church in Carlsbad for 20 years. He had resided in Lovington for four years and had played in a band,playing drums, accordion,bass, and guitar. Survivors include his wife of the home, five sons,Ben Vargas and his wife,Lillie, of Carlsbad; Emilio Vargas and his wife Elizabeth,of Lovington; Lorenzo Vargas Jr. and his wife, Pauline, of Jal; Donald Vargas and his wife, Yvette, of Albuquerque; Thomas Butt and his wife, Sandra, of Port Lucie, Florida; and two daughters, Lisa Hinojos of Albuquerque and Ruth Clark and her husband, Bob, of Phoenix, Arizona; 20 granchildren and 15 great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Rita Vargas; a daughter, Leticia Vargas and four brothers.
