Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas Earl Ward November 06, 1955 - December 16, 2017 Celebration of Life for Douglas Earl Ward, 62, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. There will be no graveside service. Mr. Ward was born on November 6, 1955 in Brady, Texas to Edwin and Marthel (Bowen) Ward and his sweet spirit left his tired earthly body during his sleep on December 16, 2017. He is now free from pain, running on the streets of gold, dancing, praising and worshipping! He worked at several different jobs through the years. He was a houseparent for the New Mexico Boys Ranch and for the Baptist Children’s Home in Madill, OK. He also was employed by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and as an accountant for CPA Dayton Ward. He was valedictorian at the International Business College in September of 1995. On January 3, 1976 he married Debra J. McDougal in Lovington, NM and they have shared forty one years of life and love together. He was preceded in death by his inlaws: Mac and Imogene McDougal and one nephew: Scott McDougal. Doug is survived by his wife, Debra of the home; one son: Douglas “Trent” Ward of Lubbock, TX and one daughter: Amy Ward of Lovington, NM; his parents: Edwin and Marthel Ward of Lovington; two sisters: Vicki Ward and Peggy Ward both of Lovington. Seven grandchildren: Ashley, Caleb, Riley, Lilly, Ethan, Brinley and Kinley Ward all of Lovington. Two Brother-in-laws: Richard and Kenneth McDougal of Heber Springs, Arkansas and a host of friends. When they were foster parents they made sure that every child that came into their home left with a Bible. So in lieu of flowers or cards we are asking that you donate a Bible, for a toddler, kid or teenager to “Hope Totes”, PO Box 11, Lovington, NM 88260 so it can be given to a child who is in state care. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
