Obituary of Kathalene Cope

Kathalene Cope March 03, 1942 - December 27, 2008 Funeral services for Kathalene Cope, 66, of Lovington, NM will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Trinity Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Ragland officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mrs. Cope was born on March 3, 1942 in Hayworth, OK. She passed away on December 27, 2008 in Lovington, NM. She married Benton Eugene Cope on February 23, 1958 in Lovington, NM. Mrs. Cope moved to Lovington in 1955. Later on in 1977 she and her husband jointly owned Llano Field Service at Tatum with Doyle and Radna Bonds. She later was a bookkeeper for New Mexico Bank & Trust. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was on the finance committee and a trustee and taught Sunday School. She was very family oriented, enjoyed keeping her grandchildren and crocheted afghans for each grandchild. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Scott Cope and wife Cathy of Lovington, NM and Terrell Dewayne Cope and wife Peggy of Tempe, AZ; one daughter, Donna Jean Weathers of Lovington, NM; three brothers, Roy Lee Williams of Lovington, NM, Perry Williams and wife Jolene of Lovington, NM and C.W. Williams of Tatum, NM; three sisters, Janis Simmons and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, OK, Nora Ann Trujillo of Beaumont, TX and Dr. Donna “Elaine” Sanders and husband Hilary of San Antonio, TX; nine grandsons and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Evelene Williams; her husband, Benton Eugene Cope and her brother, Calvin Dean Williams.
