Obituary of Frieda Bertha Williams

Frieda Bertha Williams March 18, 1921 - February 06, 2010 Graveside services for Frieda Williams, 88, of Tatum, NM will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with Charles Ivy, Minister of Tatum Church of Christ officiating. Services are being conducted by Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams was born at home on March 18, 1921 in Lea County in the community of Hiway to William “Billy” F. and Selma Amalie (Kretzchmeyer) Koch and passed away on February 6, 2010 at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington. Frieda has always been a resident of Lea County, graduating from Tatum High School in 1938. She married Roy Newel Williams in Brownfield, TX on July 8, 1940. She was a member of Tatum Church of Christ and she and her husband ranched East of Tatum. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing when the girls were young and truly enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flower beds. She was a wonderful, loving grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters. She is survived by her two daughters: Billie Jane and husband Ron Nauert of Tatum, NM and Newelene Pena of Lovington, NM; three grandchildren: Buster and wife Lisa Brown of Gruver, TX; Royce and wife Gail Brown of Alto, NM and Steven and wife Wyndi Pena of Tatum, NM and six great-grandchildren: Brandi, Niki, Jacob, Terren, Stephanie and Mason. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm and Thursday, Feb. 11th from 8:00 am until noon at the funeral home.
