Roy Newell Williams September 09, 1915 - February 28, 2007 Services for Roy Newell "R.N." Williams, 91, of Tatum will be held Saturday, March 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Tatum Church of Christ. Charles Ivie, minister, will officiate. Burial will be at Lovington Cemetery. Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home is directing arrangements. Born September 9, 1915, at Coleman County, Texas, he passed away February 28, 2007, at Lovington Good Samaritan Center. He was married to Freida Koch Williams on July 8, 1940, in Brownfield, Texas. He had resided in the Gladiola area since 1934 when he followed his parents to New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the Church of Christ in Tatum and was known as "Pops" to his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his wife of Tatum; two daughters, Billie Jane and her husband, Rondal Nauert of Tatum and Newelene Pena of Hobbs; two brothers, Robert Williams of Aztec and Edd Williams of Hobbs; three sisters, Maggie Valentine of Lubbock, Texas, Ethel Carr and Velma Morales of Hobbs; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Kalse and Nancy Jane (Garner) Williams and stepmother, Lily Mae Williams.
