Obituary of Claude Rocky Wood

Claude Rocky Wood December 30, 1954 - November 03, 2016 Graveside services for Claude “Rocky” Wood, 61, of Hobbs, NM will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobbs, NM. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Adams. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 13th from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home in Lovington. Rocky was born on December 30, 1954 in Hobbs, NM to Dave Wood and Claudine Belle (Scott) Wood/Davis and passed away in Hobbs on November 3, 2016. He graduated from Hobbs High School and after graduation he joined the Air Force serving until 1977 then in 1980 he re-enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1986. He attended Colorado Technical Institute and received his certification in Air Conditioning and Heating. He was employed by his father at Dave’s AC & Refrigeration for some time and later he was employed in Lubbock, TX for the Church of Christ before retiring. Rocky was a twin to Rena, his sister and they shared a close relationship. He had a good sense of humor and made people laugh and enjoyed being with his friends. He had three daughters and six grandchildren that he loved very much. Rocky was always taken to church when young and was active in many of the church events and he loved the Lord. He is survived by his parents: Claudine Davis of Hobbs, NM and Dave Wood of Cañon City, CO; three daughters: Tara Wood and husband Dwayne Cephus of Hobbs, NM, Bettie and husband Daniel Geese of Obetz, Ohio; Rachel and husband Randy LaBlance of Troy, ILL; three sisters: Davigene and husband Chuck Meyers of Hobbs, NM; Rena and husband Ken Byerly of Cañon City, CO and Cubbie Lou Clementi of Cañon City, CO; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
