Obituary of Ben R. Woody

Ben R. Woody April 20, 1918 - December 15, 2008 Funeral services for Benson “Ben” Woody, 90, of Lovington, NM will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 3rd & Central Church of Christ with Odell Farr, minister, officiating. Visitations will be Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 8 am until 8 pm at Kirby- Smith- Rogers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mr. Woody was born on April 20, 1918 in McClean, TX. He passed away on December 15, 2008 in Lovington, NM. He married Blanche Southern Woody on December 21, 1939 in Clovis, NM. He was raised on a farm in the Clovis area and farmed for himself in the early years. He worked as a mechanic for International Tractors before opening his own Farm Equipment Service in Lovington. Mr. Woody attended the 3rd & Central Church of Christ. They were members of Sandy Sams and they enjoyed playing dominos and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Woody of the home; two sons, Chauncy Woody and wife Marlyn of Lovington, NM and Kelvin Woody and wife Kathy of Lovington, NM; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by parents, Schuyler Colfax and Sarah Ella Woody; one son, Murray Woody; four sisters and four brothers.
