Obituary of Marlyn Ann Woody

Marlyn Ann Woody May 18, 1945 - July 07, 2017 Marlyn Ann Woody, 72, of Lovington, NM passed away on Friday July 7, 2017 surrounded by family. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10th from noon to 5 pm. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at New Beginnings Church with David Villar officiating located at 2236 S. Main Ave., in Lovington with burial to follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Marlyn was born May 18, 1945 in Clayton, NM to Fred L. and Martha Alice (Powers) Carter. She married Chauncy D. Woody on April 20, 1964 in Carlsbad, NM. Marlyn was a loving mother of two children, Sabra Gnade and her husband Aaron of Midland, TX. and Chris Woody and his wife Lena of Schertz, TX. She was the loving grandmother of Blessing Rivera, Krystal Woody, Michael Woody, Ryan Woody; and great-grandmother of Peter Hallmayer, Aniya Woody, Katie Woody and Silas Rivera. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Chauncy Woody of the home, her sisters Dawn Walton and Mary Waller and many special nieces and Nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Faye Tanzola, and her brothers Bob and Gene Carter. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, spending time with her family and her church family. She was always delighted to make quilts for newborn babies. Some of the highlights of her life were trips to Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River.
