Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Young

Mary Elizabeth Young May 10, 1921 - April 03, 2011 Graveside funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Young, 89, of Georgetown, TX, formerly of Lovington, will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Dale Rhodes officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Young was born on May 10, 1921 in Doole, Texas to Tebe Eason and Willie Bee (Dutton) McNeely and passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 in Georgetown, Texas. She was married to Leonard “Doc” Young in Brady, Texas on December 20, 1939 and they lived in Kermit, Texas for many years before moving to Lovington in 1972. She was a member of the Home Extension Club in Kermit. Mrs. Young considered herself a “go-fer” for car parts or whatever was needed for her husband, as he sold new and used cars in Kermit and managed Sunland Chevrolet House in Lovington. She was a homemaker, a hard worker, and a very organized person. She was charming, independent and her friends considered her the epitome of a lady at all times. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and writing in her journals. She was a member of 3rd & Central Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Jimmie Wulff. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Charles Black of Georgetown, Texas and a host of friends.
