Obituary of Oma Oletta Boland

Oma Oletta Boland September 30, 1923 - September 12, 2012 Graveside services for Mrs. Oma O. Boland, 88, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Scranton Cemetery, near Cisco, TX at 1:00 pm Texas time. Services are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Boland was born on September 30, 1923 in Romney, TX to Fred and Rosa (Ingram) Tarver and passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington. She grew up and attended school in Romney. She married Roy Boland on June 26, 1943 and in 1954 Oma and Roy moved to Lovington and ran Roy’s Big Burger, then later they operated the Western Grill. Oma enjoyed china painting and entered many of her paintings in the County Fair. She was very family oriented and taught her children how to be responsible citizens. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; two sisters: Iona Lane and Margaret Loudemy and one brother, Delbert Tarver. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie and Allen Boland of Lovington and one daughter, Carolyn “Sue” and husband Donald Curry of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Gerald and wife Lillie Mae Tarver of Arkansas and two sisters: Bonnie Lucas of San Angelo, TX and Shirley and husband Leigh Norstrum of Abilene, TX. Also one grandson, James Ward Curry of Ft. Worth, TX. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scranton Cemetery Association, PO Box 149, Cisco, TX 76437.
