Funeral services for Antonio "Tony" Aguinaga, 78, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Frank Eichorst officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Tony was born on November 5, 1939 in Devine, TX to Cesareo and Elvira (Rodriguez) Aguinaga and passed away in Hobbs, NM on September 20, 2018. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1960 and joined the US Navy, serving for four years. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Tony married Mary Nell Oliver in Lovington on September 4, 1971 and they have shared forty seven years of life together. He was a well-known and loved icon in Lovington, as he was the owner of Tony's Classic Cuts and cut hair for everyone. Anyone who knew Tony, was aware that he had a servant's heart, for his Church, his community, his friends and family. He was one of those "one of a kind" men with great compassion and love for others and always extended a helping hand. He will be greatly and truly missed by all. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Chris Aguinaga and his sister: Rosa Salazar. Surviving him is his wife Mary Nell of the home; Daughter: Angela and husband Calvin Linke of Andrews, SC; his sister: Marguerite "Maggie' Vela of Texas; his Mother-in-law: Geraldine Oliver of Lovington ; four grandchildren: Breeanna and Micah Aguinaga of Lewisville, TX ; China and husband Ricky Ard of Columbia, SC; and Paul Handcock of Turbeville, SC; eight great-grandchildren: Baylin, Grainger, Ozzy, Zoey, Emillee, Gavin, Dustin and Noah; a brother-in-law: Rosendo Salazar of Lovington, also nephew: Michael Salazar of Lubbock, TX; nieces: Patricia Dominquez of Dallas, TX and Christine Santos and husband Richard of TX and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27th from 11:00 am until 5:30 pm at the funeral home. Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
